Activities of the Planning Secretriat
Process of necessary guidance for planning and implementation of development projects in order to archive the expected targets through identification of annual development target, preparation of annual implementation plan, reviewing the progress and evaluation etc.
Identification of development objectives, strategies, methodologies and preparation of policy recommendations.
reparation of medium term & long term provincial public investment programmes through coordination with the National policy making institutes and obtaining technical assistance.
Guide the Provincial Ministries, Departments and institutes by evaluating and appraising of Project Proposals towards successful implementation of development projects.
Compilation study and analysis of Socio-economic information, potentials, problems and needs in the province.
Facilitate for preparation and implementation of investment plans and projects proposals to submit for donor agencies.
Coordination and provision of necessary guidance for the planning units of the Divisional Secretaries and Local government institutes in the process of provincial development planning.
Responsibilities and activities of the Departments are categorized under the following programmes and projects for budgetary purpose.
Programme 3 - provincial Administration
Project 2 - Gen. Administration & Establishment Services.
Programme 52 - Regional Development.
Project 2 - Rural Economic Developmet.
Right to Information Act
Right to Information Act No. 12 of 2016 has been enacted by the Parliament of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka whereas the Constitution guarantees the right of access to information in Article 14 A there of and there exists a need to foster a culture of transparency and accountability in Public authorities by giving effect to the right of access to information and thereby promote a society in which the people of Sri Lanka would be able to more actively participate in good governance in public life.
